Oxy-Fuel Cutting should be used on:

  • Metal plates (Steel or Alloy Plates)
  • Thicknesses ranging from (3/8” to 8”)
  • Simpler cuts with less detailing

Oxy-Fuel Cutting is one of the most widely used industrial thermal cutting process because it is one of the most effective and cost efficient ways to cut steel and alloy plating. This process uses specially designed oxygen and fuel torches and tips designed to create clean edges.

Plate “burning” begins with the preheating of a spot on the plate surface or edge. Once red hot, a stream of pure oxygen is injected through the torch tip. At over 2500 degrees, the steel literally burns as the stream of oxygen continues along the line of the cut. This process results in a very smooth edge.

Only low carbon steel and some other low alloys can be cut using this process because of its extremely high temperature. Our line of 5 flame cutting machines, whose operators average over fifteen years of experience each, work to ensure a quality outcome.
